Our Mission
Exposure to different cultures is the most direct, powerful way to promote international understanding and peace. Bridges to Africa was founded to help young people understand how much we in America have in common with the youth of Africa.
By making a personal connection with teenagers in Brooklyn and Africa, high school students return home with a broader view of the world and a deeper understanding of themselves. As their knowledge of the world grows, they grow as individuals.
Bridges to Africa is the beginning of a lifetime of international understanding and friendship. It is our hope that the young people who take part in our student exchange program will draw on the insights of this experience in their adult lives. They will then become powerful forces for world understanding and peace in their own communities.
